Script timer
Estimate how long your script takes to say, with total and paragraph times at three speaking speeds.
These speeds are planning assumptions. Pauses and demonstrations add time.
- Words
- 0
- Slow, 120 WPM
- 0:00
- Normal, 150 WPM
- 0:00
- Fast, 180 WPM
- 0:00
Each paragraph time is rounded to the nearest second, so they may not add up exactly to the total.
Runs entirely in your browser. Your script is never uploaded.
How to use
- Paste your script with blank lines between paragraphs.
- Compare slow, normal and fast speaking estimates.
- Review paragraph times and allow extra time for pauses or demonstrations.

FAQ
Which speaking rate should I choose?
Start with Normal at 150 words per minute, then compare it with a timed reading of your own. The three preset rates are planning assumptions, not promises about your pace.
Why is my recording longer than the estimate?
Pauses, demonstrations and reading numbers aloud can add time. A spoken rehearsal gives a better check.
Does the timer work for every language?
The word counter is designed for English-style scripts separated by spaces. Languages without word spaces may need a different counting method.
